RV Travel Sets Families Free to Explore

Imagine a vacation without overstuffed carry-on luggage, long TSA lines, cramped seats, and layovers. It’s not a private jet–it’s a recreational vehicle (RV), and every year millions of Americans travel this way. Convenient, comfortable, cost-effective, and therapeutic, RV travel is more popular now than ever.

Bound by a shared love of travel, lifelong friends Lance Stewart and Scott Dean started RV Land in 2012. Just down Interstate 35 South, RV Land can help you explore hundreds of RV options, from fifth-wheels to Winnebagos. Offering new, pre-owned, and rental RVs—as well as RV storage and servicing—RV Land is sure to have just the right vehicle to fit your needs.

When you hit the road to experience the world in an RV, there’s no such thing as a “flyover state.” Remarks Dean, “We believe that the RV lifestyle is one of the greatest ways to explore all that Mother Nature has to offer.” With an RV, you can make your own adventure—any time, any place. If there’s a road, you can get there.

Getting there is usually expensive, but RV travel helps keep costs down, as it eliminates the major expenses of airfare and hotels. If you're watching your budget, one of RV Land's pre-ownned or rental RVs might be the right choice. Additionally, many campgrounds are very affordable or even free. And when it’s time to eat, traveling with your own kitchen helps you avoid pricey restaurants and fast-food joints.

Dripping Springs resident Rachel Breen, who has been camping and traveling in RVs since childhood, now takes her own family RVing. “RVing is a more affordable way to travel for longer periods of time without breaking the bank,” she shares. Whether it’s a quick trip or a long getaway, an RV holiday costs a fraction of a more traditional vacation.

In addition to lower costs, the convenience factor also drives people to choose RVs for travel. Setting out is simple: just gas up, grab some supplies, and go. You are in control; you can keep a fluid schedule and you’re never stuck in one place. Even your family pets can come along for the ride. In an RV, you can stay anywhere from a campground to a luxury RV park or even a buddy’s driveway. And when you get there, there is no need to unpack and repack; everything you need is right inside your home away from home.

As far as everything you need, RV travel allows you to bring plenty of adventure gear with you, from mountain bikes to ATVs and kayaks to jet skis. For outdoor enthusiasts with loads of toys, RV Land features a variety of toy hauler RVs, which are specially designed with a large rear garage space and a loading ramp. With a good deal of storage in an RV, you can also carry many of the comforts of home for a refreshing journey. If you’re seeking a luxurious experience, consider RV Land’s motorhomes, which are truly homes on wheels with spacious kitchens, bedrooms, and even closets.

As you motor across the open highway, leave the electronics at home and give yourself a mental break. Dripping Springs resident and new RV traveler Angie Parkhouse says, “During our trips, we are 100 percent unplugged and immersed in nature and each other.” Taking a technology timeout is especially important for kids, who are often too preoccupied to look out the window and see the landscape roll by in real life. The RV life can be like roaming therapy, with fewer distractions and a change of scenery that helps our minds unwind and our bodies reset.

Another healing property of RV travel is that it often involves engaging in the great outdoors. Breen shares one memorable encounter with nature: “One morning, I stepped out of my RV to find an elk just standing at my camping site,” she says. “You don’t get to experience that when drinking coffee in your hotel room.”

Most importantly, outdoor adventures mean time together. Families build lasting memories fishing, hiking or just sitting around the campfire. Couples find opportunities to reconnect. “My husband and I really enjoy our solo time in nature,” Parkhouse shares. “Being in a remote RV site with the stars shining so bright is one of the most spiritual experiences.” Children grow up fast and time flies; spending these moments together can help slow it down.

Liberating and economical, RVing is an ideal way to get lost in nature, revitalize your spirit, and fortify family ties. Breen sums it up: “All worries and stressors seem to disappear when you are surrounded by natural beauty.”

When you’re ready to set out on your next adventure, make RV Land your first stop. With a full line of new and pre-owned RVs, RV rentals, and even home delivery services, RV Land has everything you need to get rolling. “At RV Land, we truly enjoy helping people explore the great outdoors,” says Stewart.
