Get an IV Drip in the Comfort of Your Own Home

Over the last few years, the growing popularity of vitamin IV drips has been seen all over social media and reality TV shows. Stars like Snooki from The Jersey Shore and the whole Kardashian family have received IV treatments when they were feeling sick, rundown or in need of a boost.

But what really is an IV drip? Is it worth all the hubbub or is it just for the famous?

This is where Marisarah Larvick, owner and founder of MN IV comes into play. She’s the real expert here.

“Essentially, IV drips are just like what you would see by going into the hospital,” she says. “It’s one liter of normal saline that is infused directly into your bloodstream through an intravenous catheter, skipping your GI tract, for faster absorption. However, at MN IV, the main difference is that we come to you, whether that’s your home, office, hotel or even camper, making the whole process smoother and time efficient.”

The leading IV drip misconception, Marisarah explains, is that you must be sick to receive treatment.

“75 to 80% of our population is chronically dehydrated, which over time can lead to chronic illness, brain fog, poor sleep, inflammation – the list goes on,” she explains. “Getting IV fluids with some vitamins and minerals can alleviate those symptoms and increase your energy levels so you can show up in your everyday life ready to go. Of course, we do help those with cold and flu-like symptoms, but it’s not the main factor.”

Besides getting an IV to simply stay ahead of potential health concerns, a lot of clients call because they are pre- or post-marathon, coming home from a long trip or even hungover.

“We can help with all these things by adding different vitamins to the IV bag, such as magnesium, vitamins C, b-complex vitamins, zinc, amino acids and B12. Each drip is tailored to the client’s needs at that time.”

Another bonus of IV drips is there is typically no downtime after treatment, and clients can decide on the frequency based on how they are feeling.

“We have people that we see every two to four weeks because they have a chronic condition or struggle to stay hydrated, and we have some that we only see every six months,” Marisarah says. “It is completely up to them. There are a few factors that may determine how long your IV drip benefits will last. On average people are feeling the benefits for 7-14 days. If you get a drip right before a crazy party weekend, then it’s only going to last the weekend. If you are sick with cold/flu or food poisoning it may take a couple IV drips over 3-5 days to really get you over the hump. Our service is very customizable, and we discuss with each client on what they can expect based on what’s going on.”

For potential first-timers, Marisarah calms all worries.

“Our first interaction will typically be through a phone call or text message,” she says. “We gather all the necessary information to make sure you are a great candidate for our services. From there you will fill out some electronic paperwork and confirm your appointment.

“Then one of our 10 registered nurses will come out to your preferred location and administer the IV. The whole process takes about 45 to 60 minutes.”

Each one of those 10 nurses has at least three to five years of hospital experience and is an expert in IV insertion. They come to the team already having all the skills required to make each appointment safe, comfortable and easy.

Marisarah herself was an RN for 15 years, mostly in the emergency department, before starting MN IV  two years ago.

“Although my team has grown to 10, I still find myself going out into the field to work with our clients. I started MN IV because of my passion for emergency medicine, administering IVs and helping people, so if I get caught up in the administration side of business, I get too antsy and need to get out there with our people.”

After two years in business, Marisarah says it has been really rewarding being able to help so many around the Twin Cities.

“It’s funny because a lot of people still don’t know that this is an option in Minnesota, and they get very excited about it. One of my favorite things now is seeing customers come back. Then I know we really did something special for them.”

So to answer the question – Is it just for the famous? – no it’s not just for the Snookis and Kardashians of the world. It’s for busy parents, professionals, athletes and anyone in between, because everyone deserves to feel their best.
