Exploring Charitable Acts

A Cornerstone of Dripping Springs Generosity

David Blackman and Greg Clark’s journey began in college, where their friendship grew into a lifelong bond. Both met their future wives, Tisha and Hilary, during this time and became groomsmen in each other’s weddings just a month apart. With this strong foundation, they began building their families—each with three children—and their careers, with Blackman at ADP and Clark at Champs Sports. Eventually, their paths converged to create AmCheck HCM Solutions in 2005, a business dedicated to simplifying human capital management.

AmCheck HCM Solutions officially opened its doors in Austin in 2006 and moved operations to Dripping Springs in 2015. Its services encompass everything from new hire onboarding and payroll management to tax compliance and employee benefit management. This comprehensive approach allows clients to focus on their core business activities with confidence.

While AmCheck thrives in the professional realm, its heart lies in community service. Blackman and Clark have always been committed to deepening their roots in Dripping Springs. Initially, their charitable contributions were spontaneous, supporting various local causes. However, as the community grew, so did their desire to make a significant impact.

In 2012 they took a decisive step toward structured philanthropy. Sharing a love for golf, Blackman and Clark launched Drives 4 Drippin’, an annual golf tournament that supports Tiger Totes, a local nonprofit providing essential food to school children. This initiative grew rapidly, merging in 2014 with the Hill Country Rally for Kids (HCR), a notable local charity organization.

The success of Drives 4 Drippin’ and its involvement with HCR has been profound. HCR now includes a gala, BBQ cookoff, car and bike show, and a sporting clays shoot called Pull for Drippin’. In 2023 alone, HCR raised over $200,000, benefiting numerous local causes such as the Burke Center for Youth, Hungry Souls, and RED Arena, among others. Clark serves on the HCR Board of Directors, while Blackman chairs several committees.

When deciding which causes to support, Blackman and Clark prioritize local impact. They make sure their contributions serve organizations whose funds stay within Dripping Springs, directly benefiting the community. This focus on local charity has helped address critical needs like food, shelter, and caregiver support, enriching lives now and for the future.

Blackman and Clark emphasize that getting involved in charitable activities is straightforward. They encourage others to volunteer time, make donations, or both, highlighting that even small efforts can make a big difference. For those interested in starting their own initiatives, their advice is clear: Research thoroughly, follow your passion, and commit fully. The rewards far outweigh the challenges.

AmCheck HCM Solutions stands as an inspiration for community involvement in Dripping Springs. Through their dedication, Blackman and Clark demonstrate that business success and charitable work go hand in hand, fostering a stronger, more connected community.
